2005 Chaplain at Gifford Pinchot State Park

Tim Taylor, with his wife Linda

Mr. Tim Taylor will be returning for his second year as the Chaplain in the Campground at Gifford Pinchot State Park.  He will be assisted in many ways by his wife, Linda, as they conduct a nondenominational worship service on Sunday mornings at 9:30 AM, and a special time for children on Saturday mornings at 10:30 AM.  These events could include puppet shows, games, crafts, or other activities that the young and the young-at-heart would enjoy!

Chaplaincy Program:

From Memorial Day through Labor Day Weekend, a full-time chaplain is hired by the PA Council of Churches to provide nondenominational worship services each Sunday. A volunteer teacher is available each week, also, to provide a special "Sunday School" experience for the children.

The services are held at 9:30 AM in the Amphitheater/Chapel in Loop B of the Campground.  The Chaplain also tries to visit each of the 339 campsites every weekend for the purpose of inviting the campers to the worship service and to inform them of additional activities which are sponsored by the chaplaincy program. These additional activities may include such things as movie nights, hymn sings, sand castle building contests, scavenger hunts, volleyball, campfire stories, games, etc.

The Southern PA District Church of the Brethren helps to sponsor this program at Pinchot.

Mr. Warren Frey teaches the children at Pinchot about lessons we can learn about our spiritual life - from - of all things, pigeons!

Linda, the kids, AND the puppets let their "little lights shine" for Jesus!

Invitation:

Please visit this beautiful 2,338-acre park in the rolling hills of Southern PA! The 340-acre lake provides breath-taking views that help the visitor to think about his/her Creator and the purpose of living. The Chaplaincy Committee invites you to reflect, re-create, and share with others in its ecumenical worship services.
